Helping and Travelling 4 is a 33 days program where you will have the opportunity to experience the most interesting tours in Cusco, Machu Picchu, Lake Titicaca, Arequipa &Colca Canyon and to experience 1 week volunteering the Peruvian Jungle!
On Saturday After your arrival in Cusco we will pick you up from the airport and take you to one of our accommodations. We will introduce you to your hosts and you will have a small briefing about your itinerary in Cusco including important information about safety, weather, money, and also some recommendations for places to go. After this you can get settled and get to know your host family.
You will have the rest of the day to get used to the altitude!
Sunday,Morning you will be picked up from your accommodations at 8:30 am for your Sacred Valley tour. You will visit the most important towns and markets (Pisac, Urubamba, Ollantaytambo, and Chinchero) of the magical Sacred Valley. This tour lasts about 8 hours; you will be back in Cusco in the afternoon and you will be taken to your accommodations
Monday, the first day of your volunteer work, we will meet you at our office at 10:00 in the morning to give you an orientation about your placement and some important information about your project. Then we will take you to your volunteer placement where we will introduce you to the directors. You will be able to start working that day.
Wednesday, in the afternoon around 13:00, we will pick you up from your accommodation and you will meet your group and your visit to the city will begin. This tour lasts 4-5 hours visit some important places of the city like the amazing Cathedral, the Temple of the Sun, the Inca fortress of Sacsayhuaman, the thermal baths of Tambomachay, and other Inca ruins are just a few minutes outside the city. You will be back in their homestay in around 18:00, where you will have dinner.
In the free mornings or afternoons you will have time to take Spanish classes, enjoy one of PV Travels additional activities like tours of the South Valley or horseback riding among others, or just relax and explore the city of Cusco.
Saturday, you will be picked up early from your accommodations at 6:00 am for your Machu Picchu tour. You will be taken to the train station. Once you arrive in Aguas Calientes you will be met by a representative from your hotel who will take you to your hotel to check in. You will have a free afternoon, where you can visit the Mandor Waterfalls, the thermal bathes, the butterfly farm or just relax and explore the town of Aguas Calientes.
Sunday, you will have a tour of Machu Picchu for about two hours and then you will have free time to explore Machu Picchu and Aguas Calientes. In the afternoon you will return to Cusco where you will stay with your host family.
Monday to Friday you will continue to volunteer at your placement. If you choose to you may also take Spanish classes in the mornings or afternoons depending on when you volunteer during the day. Free salsa lessons are also available in the evenings Monday through Saturday.
Friday evening we will pick you up from your accommodations around 7:30 pm for your Arequipa/Colca Canyon Tour. Saturday morning upon arrival in Arequipa you will be transported to your hotel and will have the morning free to rest or start exploring the city.
In the afternoon at 1:00pm you will go on the Arequipa City Tour. This tour lasts about 5 hours and you will visit the most popular neighborhoods and churches in the city. You will be back in your hotel around 6:00pm and will have the evening free to enjoy a nice dinner.
Sunday morning, around 2am we will pick you up from your hotel for the Colca Canyon bus tour which lasts about 10 hours. You will visit different towns along the way and you will be able to take pictures of the condor (the largest flying bird in world).
You will be back in Arequipa around 5:00pm and then will take the bus back to Cusco and arrive early Monday morning
Monday to Friday you will continue volunteering at your placement, and can spend your free time taking Spanish classes, salsa lessons, spending time with your host family or other volunteers, and exploring the city.
Friday evening at around 08:30pm you will be picked up to go to the bus station for your tour to Puno/Lake Titicaca. The bus ride takes between 6 to 8 hours and you will arrive in Puno around 5:00am.
Saturday your tour to the Lake Titicaca will start at 7:00am. After boarding the boat, you will be taken to the floating island of Uros and then to Amantani Island, where you will stay with a local family for the night. Here you will be able to attend a local party where you can dress up in traditional clothing and spend time getting to know your host family, the locals and the friendly island culture.
Sunday morning you will continue with your journey and sail to beautiful Taquile Island where you will visit for 3 hours and enjoy the beautiful scenery and where you will also eat a traditional lunch.
After walking around the island for a few hours you will return to the boat that will take you back to Puno where you will have some free hours to explore the city and have dinner. At 10:00 pm you will take your bus back to Cusco. You will arrive in Cusco on Monday early morning.
Monday to Friday you will be volunteering in conservation and environment projects in the jungle. Reforestation is the main activity for volunteers; however, animal observation and care, as well as teaching English in the local village are other options for volunteers.
Volunteers normally work in the Jungle Project for 4 hours but it is up to the volunteer if he/she wants to work for more hours.
Friday evening at 8pm you will take the bus to return to Cusco and will be back in Cusco early in the morning.
This weekend you may plan your own activities or just relax with your host family or friends in Cusco. Please let us know if you would like us to organize an activity or hike that you are interested in.
Monday,you will have the day off to explore Cusco and buy last souvenirs!
Tuesday, is the last day in your accommodations with a check out time of 10:00am.
