From the moment we were greeted at the airport to finishing our exit interview, my daughter and I felt as though we were well cared for by the staff at PVT. They arranged for us to stay in an apartment with other volunteers from around the world and the homeowner helped us acclimate to the Peruvian culture and delicious cuisine. Our volunteer projects at the orphanage and school for the blind in Cusco were very rewarding. We were able to share our knowledge and skills and we felt that we received more than we gave. In the Amazon Jungle, we met volunteers and staff who dedicated their lives to jungle conservation. We tended gardens of medicinal plants, cleared trails and went on hikes to encounter various flora and fauna. In addition, we were able to visit historical sites of the Inca, go horsebackriding, travel by boat in the jungle, take Spanish lessons, shop at local craft markets and visit the amazing Macchu Pichu. Our two weeks in Peru were filled with adventure and fantastic people who we will never forget. Thank you to all the staff at PVT for making it easy.

This trip exceeded all of my expectations

Sé voluntario en Perú y conoce el país y su gente!

Perú es uno de los países más maravillosos de América del Sur.

Perú lo tiene todo: Costa, Sierra y Selva, pero el factor más importante de todo es la maravillosa historia cultural que tiene Machu Picchu, una de las siete maravillas del mundo que está localizada en Cusco, Perú.

Millones de personas llegan todos los días, de todas partes del mundo, para visitar no tan solo Machu Picchu, sino también los Andes, la selva y las impresionantes playas en las costas Peruanas. Aun así, la pobreza y la desnutrición siguen siendo uno de los problemas más grandes del Perú. Las malas políticas económicas hacen aún más difícil el día a día de las familias en pobreza.

Hay miles de niños viviendo en una miseria completa, algunos son huérfanos y otros tienen padres alcohólicos. Muchos adultos están viviendo con enfermedades mortales y sin acceso a los servicios de salud y si algunos lo tienen, la falta de economía no les permite adquirir su tratamiento.

Adicionalmente, hay demasiadas plantas y animales en peligro de extinción, especialmente en la selva de Perú, aun cuando el gobierno ofrece ayuda (pero no la suficiente) estos problemas aún persisten.

Por estas razones y por muchas más, ¡Perú es el lugar perfecto para hacer trabajo de voluntariado!
